Cold Spring Harbor is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Huntington, in Suffolk County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It has a total area of 3.9 square miles, of which 3.7 square miles is land and only 4.86% is water.
Cold Spring Harbor lies in the east of the Town of Huntington. It is also bordered by Lloyd Harbor in the north, West Hills in the south, and Laurel Hollow in the west. The Inner Harbor is wedged between Cold Spring Harbor and Laurel Hollow.
NY-25A & NY-108 splits into Harbor Road and Lawrence Hill Road which both traverse west-east points of the hamlet and merges again as one as Main Street right at the eastern border. In the easternmost tip of the border is also the intersection between Main St and Woodbury Rd which stretches towards the southwest. W Pulaski Rd forms a natural border in the south.
The Cold Spring Harbor School District, along with the Huntington Union Free School District, are the primary school districts serving Cold Spring Harbor. Residents of Cold Spring Harbor belong to one of two library districts, Cold Spring Harbor or Huntington, corresponding to their respective school districts.
It is serviced by the LIRR station outside of Cold Spring Harbor, located in the neighboring hamlet of West Hills, New York.
